Alexandria Libraries are open to the public with limited hours during PHASE THREE of its reopening plan. Read the plan here.
During PHASE THREE, the library has a 25% occupancy rate, which includes staff. The amount of people allowed inside a branch at any one time is listed below:
All customers over the age of 5 are required to wear a mask while at the library. Failure to comply will result in denied entry.
Please maintain a six foot distance from others at all times while in the library.
All of our branches have been retrofitted with Plexiglas® and have physical distancing signage.
Please use the occupied signs on doors to indicate that the bathroom is in use.
Furniture has been removed or reconfigured to ensure proper physical distancing. Customers should not move furniture for family groups unless staff have been consulted.
Only one (1) person (or family group) will be allowed on elevators at a time.
Access to computers is available with a 2 hour time limit. Assistance from staff is not available.
Copying and printing fees are in place. Printing is 25 cents per printed side (black and white only). Scanning can be done and saved to a flash drive or emailed at no charge.
The preferred method for paying fines and fees is via debit/credit cards online or inside a branch.
Cash, checks or money orders will be accepted in the library.
All branches will be regularly cleaned each evening and high touch public areas and restrooms are cleaned every 2 hours during open hours.
Returned materials will be quarantined for at least 24 hours before being placed back in circulation and removed from your account. No fines will be incurred.
As many of our customers who received temporary cards during the closure still struggle with the need to stay home for their safety, we are extending the temporary cards through June 30, 2021. Those who are able to come into the branch or come to curbside, may have their cards converted to permanent cards.
Material donations are not accepted at this time.
Please keep them with you until we can accept them.
If you leave donations at the library, they will not be used and will be thrown away.
