This seminar reviews basic legal research techniques and then builds on terms & connectors advanced searching, West Topics and Key Numbers, utilizing filters, Copy with Reference, and explores features within KeyCite.

Presenter:
Sharon K. Cole, Attorney, is a Westlaw Client Manager for State and Local government personnel. Sharon teaches legal research using Westlaw to the legal staff of government agencies and public universities in the Mid-Atlantic Region. She is a licensed attorney in North Carolina who enjoys teaching legal research skills to attorneys, paralegals, and law clerks through her work with West. Sharon’s previous experience includes working as Assistant Director of CLE for the NC Bar Association and serving as the Southeast Regional Education Consultant for West LegalEdcenter.
CLE REPORTING NOTE: Attendees will be provided a West Legal Edcenter (WLEC) CLE credit request link immediately upon class completion of each class. VSB Course ID #s appear on the WLEC Certificate of Completion that is issued within two weeks to attendees who complete of the CLE credit request link. West Legal Edcenter (WLEC) reports CLE credit and pays all associated fees to VSB on behalf of attendees, and processing time can take 4-6 weeks for WLEC attendance reports to be received and posted by VSB.
Parking: There is no parking lot. On-street parking is available at meters and in free spaces with posted time limits. Meter parking is limited to two hours.
